I was looking at dual cores on newegg and the e8400 is cheaper than the e6850... they are both the same speed but the e8400 has more l2 cache AND is 45nm

dont believe me?....

EmAn,

I saw that yesterday! It does happen from time to time in that some of the relative prices just don't seem right. If you're buying, go to checkout and see if it holds the price. You might want to check other on-line sales to see if the price is relative elsewhere.

cost of manufacturing...... the e6850 is 143mm squared, the e8400 is 107mm squared. its all about waffer yield.

but yeah, it seems like Intel would still charge more for the e8400.

When I bought my E6750 it was $205 or $210 or so. E6700 at the time was over $300, heck, it still costs $330 at egg. Newer processors that cost less to make don't automatically mean the old ones are going to drop in price..
