spdif optical help evga 680i

First, I am using the onboard sound for the evga 680i sli motherboard. I have the onboard sound enabled in bios.

I am using the Klipsch ProMedia GMX D-5.1 System. I have been using the analog jacks but today I went out and bought an optical cable so that I could test out the digital sound.

I have the optical cable plugged into the back of the mobo and the other end plugged into the back of the Klipsch control module.

I downloaded and installed realteks latest audio drivers and have the onboard sound enabled in bios.

Yet I have no sound.

I am at a loss and don't know what to try. I have digital spdif output selected in the realtek control box.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nobody has any suggestions?

I just hooked the optical cable up to one of the digital inputs on my receiver and it worked perfectly.

So I guess I'm to assume that the optical input isn't working on my klipsch controller.
