If/When I get one of those, I may need to switch to inverted ATX. :santa:
But which one would I get, the ASUS chick, one with Ruby on it... or naked...
Mabe the ASUS to go with the P5E...
It's been a while since ATi's been on top, maybe nVidia is just going dormant for a while, then they'll drop a bomb when R700 comes out. To spoil the party, then ATi will roll out the rehash to be back on top... then nVidia does the same...
It's the neverending cycle.
They'll be out in a month. I wouldn't call that "taking so long".

Difference in opinion I guess, and the fact that they loose a boat load of money by delaying their matching product

Well, they've had a Feb ~14th (??) launch date for a while now.
I automatically assume that NV is gonna be faster than the ATI option; the question is "by how much" and if it's worth the extra pricetag. But the best news: competition makes everything get cheaper ;) If the 9800GX2 puts a hurting on the X2, then that means the X2 is just gonna get cheaper
By a month? Last time I checked, there weren't 50 million consumers lined up to drop $450 on a graphics card. Not to mention that the 3870s are going to be tough to get anyway. Hell, Newegg is already out of all but two.
The segment of people who are going to spend that $450+ on a graphics card are few and far between and definately are not the target audience when it comes to revenue.

If you cannot add constructively to this thread then I ask you to keep it to yourself, it seems that your responses in general is quite argumentative in nature, not sure what you are trying to accomplish here, invite people to argue with you or what??

I'm going to wait until the 9800GX2, just to see what the performance / price ratio is compared to the 3870 X2.
The 3870 X2 is only $449, but if the 9800GX2 is only $100 more, and surpasses it, then the Nvidia card is the card to get...
djrussell, That's a screw driver set / laser level / pointer thingy..... You could not tell? lol
And is the deal maker.....just kidding...

I remember seeing somewhere that the 9800 was "about 30% faster than an 8800ULTRA".
The 3870x2 seems to be around that type of performance level (30% faster than an 8800ultra, scales higher with higher resolutions via 1gb of memory). So I think they are going to be pretty close.
That is based on the numbers the reviews are giving. (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=544729)
So basically since the 9800GX2 is going to be roughly 550$ (20% more money than the 3870x2), we SHOULD see it performing close to 20% better than the 3870x2, but I doubt it will be that much better. These are all educated guesses on my part, don't take any of this 100% seriously.

Yeah we'll just have to wait and see. As far as the who is beter argument, it's really going to be the $150-$300 card market that's going to decide that. since that's going to be the price range MOST "gamers" will be going with for their cards. Whether Nvidia or ATI has the "best" uber card isn't going to make or break either company, it's the "performance" and "value" markets that will.
