Well, I am putting a new rig together using the Corsair 2GB X 2 pack for RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184).

The specification on newegg and on Corsairs web site state 1.80V. The SPD per cpuz states 1.80V

The sticker on the side says 1.90V. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture before I installed them. I think it said Rev. 1.3.

The motherboard I am using tried to set the DRAM voltage per the SPD (1.80V) and I had all sorts of instability issues.

I cleared the BIOS, loaded the optimized defaults, manually set the DRAM voltage to 1.95V (Auto + 0.15V, no + 0.10V setting) and everything is running smooth.

Has anyone else ran into this?

RP,

You don't really know what your MB voltage is putting out at any setting unless you have a connector to check it with a DMM. At 1.8v it could be 1.75v actual, etc., if you see what I mean.

It's the same with vcore and these MB settings aren't neccessarily right on the button. What you did was your best option, set it manually a little higher because essentially your voltage readings are software generated in the BIOS. As you saw, a .10 voltage change can make all the difference.

An example of what I use to check vdimm, NB chip voltages, etc:

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to find a spot to use my Fluke 77 to check the voltage, I just saw the difference between the sticker and the ratings and figured I better set it manually.

can you post a pic of the SPD from cpuz?

Sure, I'll do it when I get home from work tonight.

well if this is them
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145590
then yea looks like they didnt program it right for the SPD. either way though the board cant read that voltage setting to set it. unless they changed something in motherboards that no one has talked about. IE the board first or cmos clear will always be at 1.8v and you have to manually set them for voltage.

Actually, it is the set I linked to in the first post. Everything says 1.80V except for the sticker on the side of the RAM which says 1.90V. I may have to try and get a picture of the sticker. The difference doesn't really bother me, I just wanted people to know that the delivered RAM is different then the specs.
