Just built my system and everything is running fine, but CPUID Hardware Monitor reads the -12V as -7.74V
Should I be concerned?

:welcome: to the forums! :D
Never trust software voltage meters. If you want to test it, I would recommend using a digital multi meter.
Don't worry though, your computer would not be working if that was correct. Just ignore any voltage that any program reports.

There's a -12V on the PSU, but the board probably doesn't use it or read it.

Was it ever used or did they just put it there for fun?

I don't think corsair actually chose to do that... It's part of an old ATX spec but I think intel dropped it...

don't use software voltage meter to check the voltage..
