is it feasible to run f@h on a work computer where i cant install anything and where they monitor computer usage (mostly internet i would think) closely? i mean that computer at work is on all day and just sitting there, i usually just lock it (not even log out) for the night, so this could mean some serious production right?

is there a way to run f@h off a usb drive, which i do to listen to music with foobar 2k right now? i think this would be a nice little boost to my points, anyone have experience with running f@h at work?

[edit] also how is f@h when you are doing other things on a normal computer (p4 i think), im used to my new home computer (quad core) and i can use the computer normally while running f@h and its actually faster than my old computer which is great...

:welcome: to the forums! :D

If they lock their computers down, they certainly don't want you doing that. You will get in trouble if you do that and I highly advise against doing so. It isn't worth your job.

If you want, talk to the people who own/run the computers about it.

trakie,

The right thing to do is ask for permission before you borg any computer, especially a computer where you work. It's not worth getting in trouble or fired over.

Yes, you should run folding on your quad. You'll never even notice and it can make some big points.

Permission is key. Stanford frowns on borging computers without permission. As a matter of fact, there was something a couple maybe even more, years ago, where someone was using Bit torrent to borg a countless number of computers. That turned into a whole lot of bad publicity. It was a self installer, kinda like Wedo's one click, masked as another file. Whoever started distributing that file, got all their points Zeroed. We would really hate to see something like that happen to one of our members. I think the best thing would be to talk to the network admin, or maybe even the boss, and ask for permission. You may have to write up a proposal, but you could get lucky and get permission to borg more than one rig, depending on what their primary use is.
