So I want to go water cooling. I’ve done TONS of reading on it. The more I read the more confused I become. Here is what I’m thinking of getting for components.

D-Tek FuZion CPU water block

D-Tek FuZion-GFX
http://www.dtekcustoms.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=183

DTC- D5 Vario 12v Pump
http://www.dtekcustoms.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=172

D-TEK Bay-Reservoir- Dual 5 1/4"- UV Blue
http://www.dtekcustoms.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=165

Pro-120 Combo -Metallic Blue Radiator
http://www.dtekcustoms.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=20

Swiftech MCR220-QP with 2 Thermaltake A2018 120x25mm Blue LED Smart Fans.

(Forget the D-TEK Bay-Reservoir and the Pro-120 Combo -Metallic Blue Radiator if I go with this radiator)

Tubing

I know I need clamps and can get them at my hardware store. Can I get some feedback on this kit? Best size hose to use ½, 3/8, 5/8 ect. Am I missing anything?

I like the idea of the MCR220-QP for having a built in res.

Please pick apart and tell me why I should or shouldn’t get these items and recommendations to replace with. I’m using a CoolerMaster 830 SE case. I’d like to keep everything mounted to the case.
Thanks

So billb you say no rez. Do you men use a fill port instead and ad fluid as needed? The tee line then acts as a self-contained bleeder for the system?

Are the parts I choose quality?

yeah, i think i have same as u but i use black ice xtreme iii radiator. so far i love it :)
i think if u are cooling gpu and cpu u need 240 or 360. 2 or 3 fan radiators.

omniskillz I'm confused. 240 or 360? You have the same parts I'm looking at buying?

those are my parts

when i said 240 360. i was meaning fans. usually 120 radiator uses a 120mm fan, so 240 would be a 2fan and 360 would be a 3 fan radiator.

bigger the radiator = more heat displaced i think.

good luck with it, pretty fun. it is a bit time consuming tho :) so make sure u got lots of time.
my caseless watercooling looks like this

Let's see if I can add something to this.

Your pump, CPU block, and GPU block are good choices.

Anytime you are heavily OCing a quad, some duals, or running a loop with a CPU and a GPU you should probably get a 3x120 rad. You're dumping a lot of heat into your loop, the 3x120 rads will do a better job removing that heat than a 2x120 rad or smaller. The MCR series are a great bang for the buck setup. The absolute best is a PA120.3 rad but it'll set you back quite a bit.

For tubing, I remember reading a tubing showdown and the absolute best setup is stretching 3/8" ID tubing over 1/2" OD barbs. The process can be a pain though. Supposedly there is less water turbulence as the liquid passes through a bard, therefore improving flow.

With that said, the article also noted that the gains are minimal. Any 3/8" or 1/2" setup should net you comparable performance. I had quite a few tight turns in my first loop so I went for a 1/2" setup (doesn't kink as easy) and haven't looked back.

The debate between t-lines and reservoirs can't be answered 100%. A t-line will produce less drag on your system than a res. However, the difference will probably not be huge. As for res'es, they are awesome for looks and for initial bleeding. I actually have both in my setup and I love it. Bleeding a t-line can be a pain but so can adding water to a res setup. I use both, probably took a 1-2c or so hit in temps because of it, but gladly live with my choice.

Good luck and have fun with water.

Thanks omniskillz:
The pics help and they do speak a thousand words.

Great input! I'm glad I'm on track with my parts choice. I just don't want to buy something and find out later it's crap or there was something better to get.

Why are those PA120.3 rads so expensive? I like the MCR-320-QP. Looks similar and a lot cheaper.

The MCR-320 should work great for you.

As for the cost of the PA120.3, I don't know why they are so much. I'm sure there aren't any major differences in its manufacturing that could justify the cost. They probably just know it is the best radiator out there and charge more for it. It is the best choice for going near silent and also the best choice if you slap on massive CFM fans. Simply put the radiator is a beast. I might upgrade to one if I can grab one used or on the cheap.
