I actually already have "two" HIS HD3870's running in Crossfire atm.

When I saw the new HD3870x2 hit the market... I got kinda excited and put my "two" HIS 3870's on Ebay to seel so I could buy "one" HD3870x2.

However, after reading soem of the reviews concerning driver issues, DDR3 vs DDR4, power consuption, etc... I am not sure if it would be a good idea now.

Anyway, I am asking for soem opinions from people who might have a little more ensite, knowledge, opinions, etc.... to help me decide if I should keep the HIS cards on Ebay and seel them to get the new X2 or just keep the HIS cards.

Any input would be appreciated...

Keep your 3870's unless you are planning to buy two X2's .

Better performance and less hassles ATM. Sounds like you've already done your reading on the issues.

Not sure if its true, but from what i was reading and benchmarks, crossfired 3870's performed better..

I agree.

I thought that the review benchmarks that I saw showed a little bit of an improvement on the x2 versus crossfired 3870's, but I would also bet that the individual cards will overclock better (just a guess, haven't seen or searched for actual info on that) So with the higher overclocks on single cards, you would probably be better off with 2x crossfired cards.

But really, for the minor improvement over what you already have, it seems like a hassle to upgrade. I would just hold on to what you have for now and wait for ATI to release a better single card.

...IMO :)

Sometimes the X2's performed better because they all use a higher default GPU speed of 825mhz (versus the stock 775Mhz). Similarly, an X2 board has a built-in pair of PCIE 16x lanes for each GPU, whereas your motherboard may only support 16x / 4x for a pair of individual 3870 cards.

If you already have a good 8x / 8x or 16x / 16x CF-capable motherboard, you'll get better performance out of the two 3870's rather than the X2.

Just keep the set up you have.
