I am putting together a new build consisting of the following components:

E8400
Abit IP35 PRO
4 GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 800
eVGA 8800GT
2 x WD Raptors (36 GB)
1 x 250 GB Seagate

I have this PSU powering my current system:
http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/power/fortron_source/ax500/index.htm

Quick facts:
15A 12V1
15A 12V2

Eight 4 pin Molex connections, one floppy, 2 SATA, a 4 & 6 pin 12v ATX, and a main ATX plug

I have 3 concerns:

1) Are 30A on the 12V rail enough
2) The Abit IP35 Pro has an 8 pin 12V connector, whereas my PSU only has a 4 or 6 pin
3) I am not sure if it has the PCI-e power connectors. Are these required these days?

BTW, I plan on overclocking this rig to over 4 GHZ.

Thanks

It's an older model and your 12v rails are on the weak side. It should run your new rig but you might be pushing those rails with high overclocks and their power distribution. The Corsair 450VX would be a nice and stronger replacement and inexpensive. It's not the wattage, it's the 12v rail capacity. You'll need the 6 pin PCI-e connector.

If you feel comfortable with more power, then the 550VX is fine too. Your Fortron is more than three years old and a lot has changed since then. For what you're spending on a new rig, it's time to upgrade your power supply.

I run the rig in my sig with the Bluestorm 500. I've even got a water cooler going and I've overclocked as high as 3.84ghz.

I think the bluestorm could handle all that just fine.
