Well, I am trying to get all my drivers working for my new build. However, my front panel headphone and mic jacks are not working correctly. Under the sound management the headphones work when I test it, but I have to set it as default and restart a program to actually get sound out of the headphone for that program. Also, the microphone was not working at all. I installed the SoundMAX drivers and the mic seems to work, but it has this stupid pop-up every time I plug it in asking what device I connected to the jack.

I liked how my old computer was set-up; allowing me to use the speakers and headphone at the same time. Also, it did not ask if I was plugging in a mic every time I wanted to use one.

1)Would switching from HD Audio to AC97 fix these problems?
2)Is there a way to make that stupid AudioESP not have to pop-up when I plug in a mic?

2) There's some setting or another in the AudioMAX control panel for 'don't autodetect new hardware' or 'new plugged hardware.' I can't remember the exact phrase but it's a checkbox setting somewhere or another.

I already tried that setting earlier. If I unplug any headset or microphone and then plug it back in, then it will not work anymore. My microphone just stays SUPER low even with it at 100 volume with +30db boost, which sounds awful and is still not loud enough. Now if there was a "don't ask me this again" button for that pop-up, that would be different...

Looks like for now I will just have to stick with leaving my headset plugged in all the time. Maybe SP1 will change how Vista manages multiple audio devices such as headphones and mics.
