Modem disables video?

While cleaning I found another modem. However when i install it and start up my machine, I don't get any video signals. The little light on the monitor also blinks like it's not getting a signal so i shutdown and take out the modem and then it works. What's with this?

That exact same thing happened to my friend and he thought the whole thing was blown so he gave the system to me and i took the modem out and forgot to put it back and its worked perfect, The reason this modem was doing it was because the house got struck by lightening and that messed sumthin up.

Is it a PCI modem?... if it is have you tried another PCI slot... could be an IRQ conflict or something of the sort... just a thought:)

yes, it's a pci modem. i have tried it in other pci slots and it works, but when i try it in my computer it doesn't.
