If I had 1200 bucks just laying around, I wouldn't feel bad spending it on an UNOPENED Copy of chrono trigger.

more-over I wish I would have kept about 20 unopened copies. ^^

Agreed!

Plus, if i had just spent 1200 bucks on a unopened SNES game...i kinda doubt i'd be hurting for cash that bad. ( aka: If i was rich, i would have bought it without a 2nd thought ).

sadly, i don't have that kind of cash just lying around. But if i did, i'd have this forum up in flames at the stuff i'd buy, and the prices i'd pay for it. ( like the Aerith Music box that appears once in a while on ebay!!! god, i'd do almost anything to get a hold of that! )

It's Chrono Trigger.

You must just not understand.

Chrono Trigger.

Those who played Chrono Trigger back in the day might say that its worth every penny. I guess if you got the cash like that, I'm sure spending $1200+ on a game is the least of your worries.

Keep in mind this is purely a collector's value. Value from actually playing the game doesn't enter into it because the instant the original wrap comes off the box, the value probably drops down to more around $200-$300 for a perfect condition complete original game.

I've been working on my SNES collection lately… I just got Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen in the mail a few days ago. :) Cart only, but fairly good price. My primary value is in actually playing the games. I'm willing to pay extra for booklet, box, dust cover, complete original packaging, good condition, official strategy guide, etc…but generally only a limited amount extra as those things affect actually playing the game very little. So, the big chunk of what I'm willing to pay goes into a nice condition cart and the rest just adds some extra little portions.

The collector types who don't really intend to play something like that are willing to pay more on a virtually exponential basis as completeness, condition, and rarity increase. It's more like buying art than a video game.

I played Chrono Trigger a little bit a few years ago. I didn't get that far in it but it didn't seem special to me, just another jrpg. Although you should probably take my word with a grain of salt since I hate jrpgs.

Don't mess with the sentimental value that game brings us :)

For many people here I'm sure it was one of the first video games they played on SNES and also the best.

The question shouldn't be why would someone buy a game for that much, it should be why would someone SELL THAT GAME?
