Is there a game speed on this game? Like if I don't have 2 hours to waste can I jack the game speed up to very fast to increase production time etc?

Like 2 vs 2, 4 vs 4, etcYes the small maps are 7 planets and the big map has 22 planet's and it's going to take a lot of time even to play small maps I've played the small map and it took me about 2 and a half hours and thats the same small map you will use for online maybe I'm not sure, But yeah I'll let you know.

I "acquired" a copy of it, and I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'm just now doing the tutorials but the feel of it might just take some time to get use too. It feels like it would be such a slow slow pace game.

with all the hype this game is getting i decided to bust out my old copy of hw2. Man now i remember why i threw it under the bed for so long! The game is so fricken hard lol. It takes forever to get anything going: upgrades, building ships, attacking, moving! This game makes me feel tired..like i should take a nice nap on the keyboard. :)

I never played homeworld but its really not that bad so far. You can build ships pretty fast.

Overall, the game I think would be fun to play with some friends but for me its really boring just playing the computer. Even playing some person I didn't know I think would be boring. I had the game speed at VERY fast, and it seemed like it was crawling.

I just can't seem to get into this game so I don't think i'll be purchasing it. I'm testing with a friends copy.

I can't seem to figure out how to upgrade to the next tier of improvements or how to increase the ships capacity. Like I do all the planent upgrades and I can only have like 1 starship on the battle field and like 5 other ships, I must be doing something wrong lol.

I just started playing this the other day.. I am liking it.. its sort of like Conquest Frontier Wars was.. except for the supply lines.

I tried one of the medium maps in a 2v1v1v1v1 damn AI's teamed up together and tag teamed me till My fleet was in ruins and had retreted back to home world.. then got smashed by 2 seperate enemy fleets working together.. whom then proceeded to hunt down the 2 capitals I still had flying around.... after another race was killed off.. 3 of them teamed up and took out my ex-ally then immediated 2 of them turned on the other and proceeded to wipe him out..

The AI is very good so far.. its sneaky and keeps hitting you in the bad spots you dont want them to show up in.

My only issues is the lack of ability to lock down enemy ships to stop the AI from running away.. making me chase him through dozens of systems.

These just taken from a game I got done playing took 4 hours on the smallest map and I was able to concur 1 world I could have concurred more though but got tiring LOL.

Picked up a copy...COOL game. Lots of goodies to do. Controls were easy to pick up (played all versions of Homeworld) Loved those games. This one is really cool involving planets and such. Though I do feel they could've done better on ship textures....but thats me..doesn't hinder much though cause gameplay and scale are really nice.

Would've never heard of it if it weren't for this thread. I was hyped when I saw screenies and what-not.

Yeah it's a bit slow...but thats what I like. HW2 was really fast paced but fun.

I liked HW1 casue of the chill time collecting resources and picking of a few frigates and a time in the level with a sphere if enemy frigates. Looks like this will have the abundant replayabilty that the other HW's had.:beer:

Oh yeah... since at least release played my first Lan game with friends. 6 hour game :) That was some fun stuff.

Right now just me solo playing I started a game with the 380 some planet system 3 vs 3. That will be a LONG game hehe.

I use a combo of 4-5x missile turrets, 2-3x repair stations and 2-3x hangers with bombers.This config was good to withstand pirate attacks.. like 5-6 of them before I had to pay attention and build a new gun or repair pad or two.

didn't have the same setup in the game that whooped me.. but I don't anticipate static defenses being able to withstand an enemy fleet assault.
I'm a turtle for the beginning 25% of the game.. then become octopus and expand for 25%... the remaining 50% is building up a fleet and doing Eagle style hit and runs till I got 2 fleets big enough to steamroll the enemy.

AI Enemies starting with cap ships? I haven't seen that yet. Heck usually i have the biggest fleet for a bit.

I don't think they are actually starting with them, rather its just the first thing they are building. If you start with normal resources just make a cap. ship. factory the first thing you build and should be able to afford one right off the bat.

Speaking of capital ships I just played a really interesting game as advent using a capital ship only fleet(on flash point.) Their different capital ships have great synergy and it just plain kicked ass, especially after shield upgrades.

Got this game the other day and after messing around with the races, the advent are easily my favorite. It just seems that all of their powers and upgrades are suited towards my style of play. Also, your right about the shield upgrades on "The Unity's" capital ships, the ai was never able to break through even one of my shields and start hitting my hull (granted I had them on easy but it was only my second game).

I had 1 mother ship, 1 psionic battlecruiser, about 6 battleships, 1 carrier, and 1 of those smaller battlecruisers (I forget what it was called). Even against an easy AI, a small game took me 5 hours to win. I do turtle a lot though lol. At each planet I had to make uber defenses and spend some more time upgrading my ships haha. Overall incredible game though, I'm liking it a whole lot more than homeworld 1 or 2 and I LOVE space games!!!!
