I just got a new CenDyne 16x DVD player for christmas...and today I rented a DVD, Freedy got Fingered, and the picture looks like it keeps skipping, sort of like it is trying to play the DVD in 2 programs at once. I am using WinDVD. I tried Media Player, but that didn' t work, and I tried the DVD player that comes with Windows ME and that turned out the same thing as WinDVD.
Please help I need to fix it before I have to return the videos.(I also got Swordfish;) )

what speed is your system? a slower system will more than likely NEED a decoder card.

I've run WinDVD and PowerDVD from a P III 733 and it's acceptable...faster is much better tho.

Do you have a decient vid card?

I am using the DVD in a 900 Duron system, with a GeForce 2 64MB MX 200 card

How much memory in your rig, and running anything in the background?

Sounds good so far.

make sure you have DMA enabled. Also, make sure that DMA is enabled for both devices on that IDE channel (if there are 2 on it.) let us know if that fixes it.

How would I enable DMA on both drives? Is it in the BIOS?

Well I looked everywhere in the BIOS and I could not find ne thing about DMA. Maybe I didn' t see it? Well, I' ll look there again. Maybe you don' t enable DMA there? I don' t know. Does ne1 else know how to enable DMA?

Does ne1 else know how to enable DMA? right click my computer/properties/and Go to your device manager then double click IDE/ATAPI controllers/double click all your IDE devices/go to advanced settings and you can enable them in there...

I've heard Dynamic Memory Addressing and Direct Memory Access.

Here's (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/D/DMA.html) webopedia's explanation.
