Okay, I have a 79GB SATA 10,000 RPM HD as my C:\ that goes without saying, but I have two 500GB SATA 7200 RPM's as well.
I was wondering if I should use one as D:\ (Games) drive, would that be better than perhaps putting windows and games on C:\ and using D:\ as software, and the other drive as a redundant back-up?
What would you guys suggest? Thanks in advance. :)

I would just use the raptor as a main drive for everything and the other two for data... games aren't particularly load intensive, I mean, if you're not really using them, you could raid-0 them, but I don't think you'll gain much by putting games specifically on there unless your c: drive is full. You could put your page file, temp files, and other things on the other drives which might help, but it's not going to be a world of difference.
Keep your raptor empty and defrag often, put everything else on the big drives... thats what I would do.

sure, best way to find out if it helps, is try it.
Installing the game files to another drive may help when the game is loading, and keeping the c:\ drive clean helps access...
The registry and associated windows files all are being accessed from the c: drive, so if you can off load your page file, your temporary files (set as a system variable), and the internet explorer temp cache, you should see an improvement.

Wouldn't games show improvement if they're running off the Raptor? If the difference is nominal then I'll keep them on their own drive perhaps even their own partition?

I had split mine up in the past, put the OS on one and programs on the other. I saw no measurable difference between the two setups.

My problem is space though, the Raptor only has 79GB, after Windows, updates and all my software I'm left with about 52GB not really enough for that many games.

put all applicatons os's on the C drive, and put all storage on the D. you want all programs to access the files asap.
