I just picked up a new, sealed Dell PowerConnect 2324, found here (http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/pwcnt_2324?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd) for a little under $50 shipped. Needed a decent switch to use with a Smoothwall.

Anyone used these before? For the price it seemed like a safe investment.

Yes I own two of them. Had them for a couple years now. Works great at home and also have been used for a 140 person lan party. They rock.

Awesome, it looked pretty good. The two gigabit ports are enough for me for the high-speed, as that will let my main rig connect to my fileserver, then normal traffic can be on the 10/100 ports.

Should be more than enough. It looks like just another network switch.

You'll be fine with the choice :)

I have 3 2624's at work that do a great job and 2216 at home , they all work well.

Sounds like you got a heck of a deal... shows $112 to me.

Yeah, I found one on EBay that was still sealed in the box, won it for $35 and $14 shipping, so the price was definitely right considering what even small consumer switches go for on Newegg.

Now I just have to put together another firewall rig since my old one's motherboard crapped out. :bang head
