looks like 1.67 but not worth 425 and this place doesn't have good reviews. It's my fault. Every time I buy the latest and greatest the next generation gets released a week later. I opted for the 1800+ in the hopes that I can clock it to 2000.

At that price I guess I won't get the 2000, I'll stick with the 18 or 1900+ and it looks like most people have been getting better overclocks with the 1800+ vs 1900+

Not to mention after the 2000 has been on the market for a couple of weeks the prices should drop and the 1800 will be very afordable!

I'm waiting for the 0.13-micron Thoroughbred and Appaloosa processors to come out before I decide to upgrade my CPU configurations again. The 2000+ and the 2100+ aren't worth their higher prices, but the next generation Athlons will be worth even higher price tags than this!

Here! Read this if you want. It has alot of good info on the future of AMD and Intel Procs. http://maximumpc.com/reprints/reprint_2001-11-13.html

Well, I have an XP 1800, and to really SEE performance improvement I figure a cpu will have to be running somewhere around 5 or 6 gigaherz......so I'll wait!

I don't usually have "latest and greatest" tech anyway- too much $$$! I'd rather build 3 pcs with the top-line tech of 6 or 8 months ago!

Who, in this forum anyway, would ever buy a high end CPU like that. I paid 110.00 for 2000+ and yes it is a fine, fast piece if silicon in the right hands.

Overclocking rules!!! Period.

I bought an XP1500, for £100 here in the UK.

It is a good little chip. XP2000? I have one now!

$425? Eat my speed!

Is'nt the whole purpose of overclocking, to save a few bucks, the challenge and bragging rights?

I love your avatar.......you go MAC!

WOWSERS!!! reddeathdrinker! You have a very increadible O/C for that XP 1500+er of yours! I congradulate you on a job well done! I too will soon buy a EPoX 8KHA+ w/ 8KHAL00.BIN BIOS for my SLAVE BOX sometime in January. I have got to lose this Original SOYO DRAGON Mobo soon because it is a terrible O/Cing Mobo. I have to correct my SIG. now because it isn't stable at 1606MHz anymore! I have dropped it down one notch to 1595MHz and I don't see any more lockups or bluescreens anymore. It still shows me at the 1900+ level at bootup which is good but that's as far as I can go with this board. With your Mobo I can get a Wooping 1826MHz at 11X166MHz from my 1700+er and then you will have to Eat my dust! VEROOM! VEROOM!:burn:

My XP1900+ runs @ 1.8GHz with 1.90V stable

Maxiumum stable value with 1.85V is 1733MHz.

The XP1900+ is a real screamer!

What are you going to put into your Signature now wildbilly2k since your XP 1900+ 1.6GHz is no more? This sort of thing happened to me almost three months ago to an Athlon T-bird 1.4 @ 266mhz. The only difference is that my stock HSF had already fallen off of the socket and cpu (I guess that the darn thing wasn't latched onto the socket very well) before I even turned the system on. Luckily I was able to exchange it for a new one at FRY's Electronics by telling Costermer Service guy that the chip was defective and that I could get it to work at all in my computer at all. The replaced chip is now in my brothers computer system since I now have no other use for it. I sold it to him for a $100 bucks and it is still working for him. :)
