Um you do know its the .exe on your hard drive you need to set for compatibility mode right? Not the one on your CD.
Just try downloading the WoW client from blizzard, Blizzard's disks are usually DOA or corrupt because they're such poor quality.
All that's worth anything is the key.
dont install!!! it will be the end of your social life...or so i hear.
nah, i got bored of it after a year. Get something like guildwars indtead, it's not as good but its free after te price of the isks so you can keep your account and play it whenever you want without draining your bank account.

Yes i do, did you know you can also run .exe in compatability mode from the cd's too, apparently not
Edit: taken this as a sign so to speak it's going back to the shop and im gonna leave it well alone, tried the 10 day trial for 10 mins and got bored too.

I did know you can adjust the one on the CD too, however the .exe you're actually using is the one located on your hard drive, not the one on the CD.

Come on guys, the debate for weather or not MMOs ruin your life is for another place. He bought the game and is asking for help, you can at least try and provide something more usefull than "don't install it"
I would agree, try downloading the blizzard installer.
If that does not work then WoW does not actually need to be installed to run. Wow is a game that works just fine with just the files. I had the same issue, but WoW installed just fine on my laptop. So if you have access to another computer then just install wow on that and copy the game folder over to your desktop.
WoW should run just fine on a 64 bit OS. I have successfully run wow on both WinXP64bit and Windows Vista 64bit without using compatability mode.
Copying the game folder from another computer is probably the easiest solution.
