Well I think I am going to buy a GameCube. After waiting a few weeks and thinking about the decision between GC or a Xbox, I think I will choose the GC. Why? For starters the 100 bucks savings, actually 85 dollars after I buy a memory card. Plus I already have a DVD player, so I don't need that part of the Xbox either. Actually after doing some research on the Xbox I found out you have to buy a 30 dollar remote just to use the DVD option on the Xbox. One thing I wish the GC had was the built in memory, that is a big plus of the Xbox, but I hear that 3rd party developers and Nintendo are actually going to make a storage unit, not sure if it will happen though, because that was supposed to be available on the N64 too, but wasn't. Yeah, I know...some of you are thinking, "Nintendo has nothing but kiddie games". I thought of that too, but then I realized I liked playing Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Mario Kart and the other games like Madden Football, etc. I have read that some "adult" games are coming too, Silent Hill I think is one of them. All in all most of us grew up playing these kiddie games and liked them. I will get Halo when it comes to pc :D.

I'm going to get a gamecube eventually too, here's why?

1.I would never shame my sony VVega by using a gaming machine to play dvds for it. The picture quality is just terrible with PS2 or xbox.

2.$100.00 extra in my pocket.

3.Star ware and Pikmen.

Don't going saying the X-Box DVD picture is bad...becuase it isn't. I have x-box and it is the best thing since sliced bread. Many of my friends have GC...and I like that too, but the X-Box has more games for teens and adults and stuff, less of the typical nintendo pretty color stuff. Plus, X-box graphics blows the GC out of the water.

... Plus, X-box graphics blows the GC out of the water.

Have you seen Rogue Leader?

To be perfectly honest, the gfx for both systems are comparable. The x-box can draw 2x the polygons per second, the gamecube can do 2x the effects on a single polygon. And both can make the required 60fps and look awsome on most games anyway, so the differences are 99% academic.

Personally, I have the game cube, no good games (IMHO) for the xbox yet (and don't say get Halo, I'm having too much fun with Tribes 2 to try another FPS yet).

Well I got it and love it so far. Not many games right now, but I have a few to keep me busy for a while.

As for this quote "but the X-Box has more games for teens and adults and stuff, less of the typical nintendo pretty color stuff. Plus, X-box graphics blows the GC out of the water."

Give Nintendo time and I am sure they will have the so called "adult" games. Most of the "pretty stuff" is fine with me as long as the game is FUN, which most of them are. Most of these "adult" games so far for the Xbox look and play like crap too. And the Xbox does not blow the GC out of the water on graphics.

Another reason I will probably NOT buy the Xbox is because over HALF of the games are going to be produced for the pc too :D , so I think I will wait and play "Halo" another day on MY pc.

The xbox and ps2 dvd quality is not bad!!, it just doesnt have as much options to chose from as in a standalone dvd player.

Super Smash Brothers Melee.

'Nuff said.

Sorry about the resize job. And yeah, this is the edited version. (Is there nothing those boys at PA (http://www.penny-arcade.com/) won't make funny?!)

if you got a comp to paly many of your "adult games" like shoot em ups and some stratagy (ll admit they do missl its like silent hill and stuff but hey) then you ca get a GC to play kid games lie mari kart ad stuff and you can play Pikmen !!! that game kicks ass! o realy it is rather fun:D

as much as i liked Playing Max Payne and Half life, they dont have anything on Super Mario Bros.......also the grafx are very close something tells me that this gc vs xbox thing will degenerate into an argument similar to ATI vs. Nvidia (of course that is basically what it is), and i think is visual QUALITY they are about equal unfortunately for Nvidia/Microsoft the whole fps thing doesnt work for consoles.....

The Xbox uses an nForce chipset w/ a GPU between a GF2MX and a GF3Ti200, whereas the GC uses the R200 GPU from ATI (I think its the R200)

I won't buy a GC till it goes the way of the Dreamcast. And I'm quite confident that it will, unfortunately for Nintendo. Looks like they'll be relying on the GBA for another year to put food on their tables.

from what I've seen in GC, it doesn't look that much better than N64... the characters and foreground stuff look pretty much the same...
it's just the background and detailing that's better, like visual horizon and stuff..

At the moment it's sold more than X-box or PS2 in their first weeks.

LoL, its been out a little more than a month, it takes time and there is a big difference in graphics, much better IMO.

The Xbox and GameCube will look much better in a few months, because games will become better for both systems over time.

Exactly.

Most of em will eventually make their way to the PC, so IF I was gonna buy a new console it would be a GameCube.

Then again I'm too poor so I'll stick with my Dreamcast.

And there are some awsome games out there for the DC. Soulcalibur and Shenmu to name only two.

Plus the GC is getting some of the same games as the Xbox too. Like the NFL2k2 and NBA2k2 games from Sega, Cell Damage (Not sure who makes it) and more games.

well I think that both consoles will be great.

-microsoft can buy out alot of 3rd part developers, and make a crapload of games, and the hardware is nice. But the cost is 300, and the remote cost 30.
- nintendo's graphics are powerd by ati, and ibm,and I like both companies veyr much, and for peope who ay xbox has way better graphics, they are wrong, Im not too impressed with nvida inside the xbox.the difference is very small.
- sony ha many games a crap laod of shi* and alot of must haves like gt3, gta3, mgs2, ff series and more.

I want all of them, but not sure what to get, I already have sp2, its keeping me satisfied, for now.

I bought a GameCube on the reccomendation from a good friend whose best friend got one. Since then, every day is filled with joy.

There's no comparison. XBox's fail all the time (No, I'm jot joking, they're notorious for breaking--big surprise, it's M$). PS2's are too "old" now. They're out dated. Not to mention the DVD playback is atrocious.

And best of all, neither XBox or PS2 have Metroid, Zelda, Maro, or Conker. =)_) Rareware anyone?

Just give the consoles a few months. The second generation games will make decisions for ALOT of people. And you'll see that GC will come out on top. Who needs GT3 and Metal Gear II. It's all about PIkmin and Rogue Squadron II.

It's only natural for most of the Crap-Box games to be released for PC, seeing that thats all the Crap-Box is anyway, a stripped down 700Mhz PC, and If it's made by Microcrap, you better believe the market will be flooded with it...forced down ya throat.

I personally lost interest in consoles after PS2 was released, why spend that much money on something that eventually will find its way into a closet, when that same money can buy stuff for my PC that I'll most definetly use all the time.

:D :D I haven't turned on my tv in about 2 months, add 2 years onto that and you'll find out how long its been since I touched a console. :D :D

LoL, yeah....
Nothing like buying a new 300-400 vid card and a year later it being worth half (if your lucky). Just like games for the pc, they start out high, but then a year later they are worth around 10 bucks. For example, "Undying" was 40 bucks when I bought it less than a year ago, now it sells for 14 bucks at Compusa.

I'm actually debating on the X box:eek: (I know) I know the games may likely also be available for my computer, but I can't play with my friends (not including internet) with my computer.
Also, Getting the Xbox will help keep my video card and processor upgrade OBSESSION at bay. $ savings. (maybe) :)
I know Microsoft is disliked because they are a symbol of capitalism (successful), but that just makes me want to display my patriotism even more by buying their product. :D
I hope the price goes down a bit though;)

TVs are good for only two things: Watching DVDs, and playing console video games.
