Its been mentioned on tons of sites like fatwallet and slickdeals.. but here's the kicker..

AT&T Just announced its partnership with Starbucks to provide their new wifi service instead of Tmobile. What does that mean?

For $20 per month you can get 1 Year of AT&T DSL @ 1.5mbps

Not interested? Well how bout this..

All DSL Customers get free access to AT&T Wifi Service wherever available (?Restrictions?) for free.. As long as you have a dsl package with 1.5mbps or higher...

That means from what im guessing free access at...

McDonalds
Starbucks
Barnes and Nobles
AT&T Wifi Towers
Airports
Coffee Bean

AT&T Wi-Fi Basic is FREE and already included if you subscribe to AT&T U-Verse or AT&T DSL with a minimum speed of 1.5 MB or higher, NO ORDERING REQUIRED. Customers can login at any AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spot by entering their primary DSL or U-Verse account username and password.

Wow... I've been looking for a way to get free wi-fi at McDonalds. If they do Subway as well I might have to seriously look into it.

no its not an assumption you get free wifi access.. but there's 2 tiers of wifi, so not all wifi access points are available, and im not sure which..

for now BASIC is available at all mcdonalds and barnes and nobles but im not sure which tier they are gonna put starbucks in..

That claim was false. However, AT&T is actively pursuing technology to monitor internet traffic, identify what is deemed illegal, and shut it down or block it. This has the potential to completely disable P2P sharing over AT&T, and could impact newsgroups too. It's too early to tell what exactly AT&T's plans are, or if they'll go through with it. They clearly have the intention to police & limit the consumer though. That alone is enough for me to pass on their service.
