I'm running 2 HIS IceQ3 3870's in X-fire, of course, and I seem to be having a video issue intermittently. These cards are clocked from the factory at 850MHz and 1195 memory. I am using the 8.1 drivers and the CCC. I have the overdrive on in the CCC and have not done anything else with the cards.
What is happening is the video will freeze and then go blank. Then 10 to 15 sec later it will return, sometimes (VPU Recovery? but no VPU warning), and work fine for a little bit then do it again until eventually it will go blank and stay that way until I reboot. If it does it in a game the monitor LED goes green again and you can hear the game running again and you getting killed, but the screen stays black. It wont recover gaming video which I can understand. It mostly does it while scrolling on the web or in a program like word or excel, but scrolling seems to set if off alot, yet clicking on the menu bar to page down will not.
Is there anyone out there who has this happen who has the HIS cards? I am guessing that maybe they do not like the 850MHz too much. Maybe its a bit too much. I'm still not sure if its the cards or the monitor doing it. Yes, this monitor looks great and works beautifully when it works, but I am not all that happy or feel a sense of reliability with it yet. It just doesnt act like a monitor should at times and that kinda disturbs me and makes me mistrust it, which is sad really, especially for the money it cost.
