This one is $15 less if you don't mind the stock cooler and stock speeds.

So--this is the one with the new cooler smaller chip, right? G92?

NEGATORY! This deal posted in the first post in this thread - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?nm_mc=AFC-SlickDeals&cm_mmc=AFC-SlickDeals-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16814127329 is NOT for a G92. It's just simply an 8800GT, 512mb, with a relatively new cooler and factory over clocked from the standard 600MHz to 660MHz.

You are incorrect my friend, all 8800GT and 8800GTS with 512 MB VRAM are build on G92 architecture which do run cooler than the previous G80 core based GPU's

OK. Thanks Brolloks. I pulled the trigger on this one. Overclocked, quiet, and a bargain? This is the way to go.

That's what I had thought as well. Yojo made me nervous for a second :O

Damn I want this!!!!

It's almost cheaper for me to just sell my 256MB 8800GT and buy this than to do the step-up! Not to mention that I get a better cooler too.
I'm really debating this...

I'm sorry about that. I was a little confused, it was late when I made that post.

I meant this is not an 8800GTS. But He didn't even ask that

I'm going to stand in the corner until my brain starts working again. :bang head

But yeah, Brolloks is right....

EDIT: Ah whatever. Still a good deal with that cooler attached. $250 total :) Once I get the $20 rebate back its actually cheaper for me to do this than to do the eVGA step-up Its like $2 cheaper lol.

Still shows $220-20 for me. Maybe you need to use the link in the OP?

Ditto here , still $220 ...

One thing i hate about the Egg , is if you put something in your cart and/or logged in (to save it) , thier software recongizes it as a page hit (for that item) and with too many hits for that item the price goes up quickly (suppy and demand) . Knowing this , I dont even log in to my account any longer till the last minute before a purchase .

Just my own past experiance (and self testing) . Again I can not really prove this in general (to others atm) , its just something Ive tested out myself over the years (more so lately , past 1-2 yrs) ; specialy with HOTselling items .

The longer I have a item saved in my cart (logged in) the faster the price seems to change . Without being logged in and no saved cart , the price change is much less dramatic . Then again with VERY hot items (E8400) this does not come into play really as the the suppy/demand is way above the norm and will change in a blink of on eye no matter what .

Eh ... try it sometime and see what happens . ;)

Right now the price on the one 8800gt still shows for me @ $220-$20 mir (not the updated $230); and Iam not logged into my Egg account (and no saved cart).

Personally I think it's more likely that HOT items are selling more and being advertised more and thus selling more, etc etc in a perpetual motion loop of promotion and consumption, and it is that PURCHASE demand that makes newegg hike the price, because they realize people will pay it. I highly doubt that a refresh affects that software/personnel driving pricing changes. It would be such a wildly unreliable method of controlling the business.

I'm still glad I picked it up as with that cooler, I don't need to spend the extra $25 for a 3rd party one. Not to mention the $20 rebate.

Not bad but its the A1 (lower end GT) I just got the A2 (1 step up) for $258 shipped and a $30 MIR. I've been fighting with the dilemma of canceling my order to save $30 on this or just let it ride and enjoy the extra 50mhz speed.......:bang head:bang head:bang head:bang head

Do the overclocked ones, like the eVGA superclocked, tend to overclock higher or are they pretty much the same as the basic ones, only the pre-overclocked ones have higher default clock speeds in the BIOS?

If not, then there's really no point in getting a pre-overclocked one unless you aren't going to overclock on your own.
