View Full Version : Tualatin O/C MB
Hi,
I'm looking for a VIA MB (694T) to O/C Tualatin's. Hopefully it has adjustable Vcore and Vio. I know GA-6OXET has those features but its i-815ep(B) only handles up ti 512M RAM. Is there any 694T MB having such features? I did some search and Asus TUVX4 is close, it has Vio, but no Vcore. I am using Epox 3VCA2 (694X) and have all such features but can't run Tualatin. Any clues? If there is no choice KT133A may be my next choice.
Cheers

Stay away from the ASUS mobo's unless you are co'n a 133fsb chip from the start.

I think 512MB RAM is good enough for normal usage. Why do you need so much RAM for?
for the fun of being excessive...

Some like it for ram drives and using that to do divx encoding or something. It speeds up the system if your ram is a mini HD I guess! That is what I have heard anyway! I am not sure if it is true bu the fella that said that showed indeed with benchies it was alot faster than with 512mb.
well. 512M was excessive until a 256M module of Crucial PCC133 CL2 is now being sold for USD39...
another reason of my hesitation against GA 6OXET is that a review mentioned that the system can't reboot once the Vcore was manually upped in the BIOS, anybody with such experiece?
then the P4/i845/SDRAM combination is also tempting...
"The Gigabyte GA-60XET is, without a doubt, the highest performance Tualatin motherboard we've reviewed to-date. Not only did it obtain the summits of Overclocking, but it also managed to turn out great performance even without the slightest tweaking. For all these reasons, in addition to its great features and high-score, we're proud to award the Gigabyte GA-60XET our "High Grade Hardware Award" - a board we wouldn't hesitate to recommend."
This is the only review I can find on the GA-60XET as reviewed by Active Hardware (all the other reviews I found linked to this one!). They didn't once mention any problems with restarting once the Vcore is adjusted....
I have to admit....I do have this problem from time to time but I am running a dodgy AOpen 250 watt PSU which I know is the culpret as I swapped PSU's with a mates 350 watt Enermax and all was fine....I'd get a new PSU except all computer vendors in my area and online seem to be shut until after new years which is very annoying....Although I never seem to reset anyway so the problem really dosen't worry me that much, although I will fix it.
I have also discussed this issue with other GA-60XET users on the OCAU forums and they insist they have had no problems at all with their XET's and they are running very similar spec'd systems to mine, not only in terms of peripherals but in terms of CPU type, speed and voltage....
