I have an old NF7-S and after many years of abuse and volt mods, it is dead. It won't even post.

Running on this motherboard I have two seagate 120gb sata drives in Raid-0. The array is partitioned into two chunks, one with all my data and documents and another with the OS and programs. If I were to buy a new motherboard/ram/cpu, and plug these hard drives into it's raid controller, will it recognise the array and partitions, allowing me to just reload the os and programs and keep the data, or will it not recognise the array?

It will not be recognized. You would need to have the exact same controller in order for it to be recognized.

yuhuh.....what i do is use norton ghost to copy the data to a single, different, drive and then re-make the array and copy it back over.

Actually another mobo with another NF array might see it fine, as long as the are pluged into the same ports. I did this with a repair install to an NF3 and NF4. This way the drivers can be f6'ed.

yea... pretty much what I was thinking... If I get my hands on another NF7-S I sould be ok at least.... I have backups of most of it, but they are a bit old

doesnt necessarily have to be the same raid controler just of the same maker... i can take a standard raid 0 from intels ICH5R and put it on an ICH6/7/8/9/10R controler without probs... or visa versa, as long as its not using features not found on teh controler being moved to.

i actually like using acronis true image alot more :) only because you can un install and re install the trial and reactivate the trial, but in his situation i think ghost would be best because he dosent have a spare drive from the looks of it :)
