Compaq is a branded computer and branded computers are notorious to being a pain in the butt when it comes to overclocking. They use their own sets of board which dont allow to change the FSB.

Look around the CPU area for jumpers and try in the manual.

The only way you change it on the old computers are mainly jumpers.

Hi SecretMan, welcome to the Forum,
I suppose that without jumper settings available or parameter into the Bios to manage the Fsb, the only way to OverClock your Cpu is using the program SoftFSB or CpuFsb (http://members.tripod.de/podien/).

I hope it helps you ;)

Try to use Sisoft Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/sandra) to get more info about your system, and especially on the Mobo.

I hope it helps you ;)

Well, on the Compaq website...
what's the Serial Number or Model of your PC?

Look around the page Compaq should have a specific page where they give model numbers and bios updates and I believe HP does the same thing since I've seen them make bios.

J.P we wanna give you all the support possible, but you have to specify what kind of Compaq are you using.
is it a Desktop? and what series? Deskpro6000 233Mmx?

If you can figure out how to overclock a Compaq, then you'll be one of the few that ever did. Those things are pretty much a lost cause as far as overclocking goes.

Thanks for your info SecretMan ;)
take a look on this page (http://web14.compaq.com/falco/sp_list.asp) for all the Drivers & downloads available, specifying your model: Compaq Presario 4500 series, Model 4528.

This is the RomPaq page for your system (here (http://web14.compaq.com/falco/sp_syn.asp?detail=yes&recid=SP6360)), and this is the file...

I'm sorry SecretMan, but I suppose that you're loosing your time, especially considering the posssible performance gains of a P233, so plan to go with a new system with a Celeron and a good Mobo like an Abit or Asus, used for affordable prices ;)
