Was encoding a movie last night, fell asleep. When I woke up all I saw was a black screen. Restarted, booted into windows after hanging at the Asus flash screen at POST. About after 5 min in windows, get a blue screen and a crash.

Rebooted a couple of times, same effect, few minutes in windows and BAM. So I pop in MemTest CD and reboot, about 20% into the first test, the error window at the bottom of the screen is full of RED, hundreds and hundreds of errors. Popped the 2nd stick in, same thing. Tried the 2nd set of sockets (black as opposed to yellow), stable so far at all default.

Any ideas what happened here? Did the RAM glitch and fry the sockets, I've heard of a lot of issues with Ballistix, or is it the other way around? Thinking about RMAing the RAM...or the MB, or both. Both around roughly a month old.

RAM was running at 400 2.1V.

If it doesn't work in two slots, but ok in the others, it is the motherboard.

Could not tell you what happened, but if the RAM is ok, it was probably the board.

Ok that kinda sucks, because my MB is 2 weeks past the 30 day return policy. Awesome, guess its time to snatch up a Abit IP35 Pro....or wait till this board completely dies and then replace it.

Well, now 7 hours later, the ram is glitching again, now all 4 sockets, both sticks.

I've swapped them out with Corsair XMS2 6400C4 from my HTPC and its working like a charm. WTG Ballistix. Now I hope they have a longer RMA period than 30 days.
