:)
hello
I pushed my pentium III core voltage from default 1.7 v to 2.02 v
in order to have more stability. since um motherboard (msi6309 LITE) wouldan't allow me to set the voltage from the bios I had to set the core voltage by connecting some cpu pins (vss and vidx...)
the core tempreture is beween 19 C° and 35 C°
can I push the core voltage to 2.1v or more??? or is it too risky??

thanks
$AM...

I would not recommend pushing the voltage any higher without proper cooling

i bet you are trying to fried your CPU ya? LOL

sam2001,

What P3 are you trying to oc? and how far? just for curiosity.

You've better absolutely sure what you're doing when upping the Vcore to that level. It can be done. It can perform well..but depends on the oc'ability of the P3 chip and most importantly what kind of cooling setup you have. Minimal acceptable cooling required would be Super-air cooling method. Or, go with Pelt+air or Water cooling. If you use 100% full Copper HSF like the SK-6 with high CFM & RPM fan with perfect installation can perform almost equal to Water cooling!!! Don't let the SK-6 fool you. The stability n quality of the motherboards affect as well when you up the voltage to that level. I am saying this based on my experience. As long as u keep that thang cool@ 2+Vots, you are good to go. This is not for newbies. Im assuming you're not.

Here's how i look at it and this is with great cooling nothing less. [lower then 35C full load]

2.00 your gambling a little as it is and not to many CPU's have turned to toast at this level but a few have.

2.05 gambling

2.10 really gambling and the life of your CPU wil be much shorter but hey 10 years instead of 20 is fine with me, i'm taking this gamble and have for 6 months but i would never reccomend it.

2.20 INSANITY!!! but i did try for a night but i did not gain but a fraction of stability so back to 2.1 for me.

Cooling should be the first thing in your mind when your thinking about voltages over 2v+

Cooling kicks in as a main here since if not you will deep fry that thing.

Your temperature looks good.

Whats your overclock so far and whats your cooler?

The Cpu I'm trying to overclock is a pentium III at 750 Mhz(default fsb 100,vcore 1.7)
I succeded pushing it to 966 Mhz (fsb 129) with 98se its very stable ... I would play unreal or quake3 for hours without any problems.sometimes it would accept 1000 mhz...(fsb 133) . only 825Mhz with win 2000. I can't go as hight as 98se probably because it's not stable enaugh (not yet).

once when it was veru cold outside i opened the windows of my room, the cpu tempreture fel to 5 C° so I pushed up to 1035 Mhz and it was quite stable.

I would like to run it at 966 Mhz with win 2000(i'm using 3dstudio max to make a small movie so i need power), or even 1000 mhz.

I'll try to run a burn-in soft for some hours to see if i can go beyond that. i think i'l buy a Pelt+air kit for the summer.

before, i had the global win wbk38 cooler ( up to 6800-7000 rpm), i replaced it by
a TAISOL CGK760 (+- 5000 rpm) fan because the first one was very very very noisy

I had that cpu in the past...a ccO stepping...not a good overclocker.
I had it on a MSI 6309 V-2.0B
I suggest you keep it working @900 120fsb default vcore....it will live longer.(These settings worked fine for me)
Any higher fsb's it got unstable no matter the vcore.

Last advice.....
Dont throw your money on that kind of modifications......
Save them.....the tualatin's (1.0A......) are coming to Europe.
That's the future.

Take care
