Mouse and Keyboard and Consoles

The question I would like to pose to Xbox360 owners is the following. Can I plug a usb mouse and keyboard into it and have them actually be supported and can you actually play games with said mouse and keyboard?

I was unsure of the answer myself as everyone I know who owns a console is a hardcore console gamer and not a PC gamer like myself. I though offhand that the PS3 did support mouse and keyboard but again would not allow you to play games with them connected. Plus I know that some company makes the mouse and keyboard to xbox adapter but I'm told it is quite a crappy accessory.

Yeah I've seen that thing before but apparently it doesn't work very well.

I only ask because I'm freaking terrible with a gamepad and my friends all have xboxes and I'd like to at least keep up with them in CoD4, etc.

Simple answer:

PS3 = Keyboard and Mouse support

X360 = No Keyboard and Mouse support (At least for time being)

Of course though the PS3 supports both keyboard and mouse, it is up to the individual game to allow them as many feel it gives some an unfair advantage.

360 supports keyboard and mouse, I've used the keyboard with it to edit names and such in Madden, just no games as of now support it. It's all up to the programmers.

yea i know what you mean, pads are ok for some games just not FPS

Is sad though that though interface of Xbox supports Keyboard, games like UTIII have been said to come without support for it while the PSIII version has full KB/Mouse support. Hopefully though that will change by the time it comes out.

I think I heard that in UT3 on the ps3, the mouse and keyboard controls are slowed down to level the playing field. It won't be like it is on the PC.
