Ok, i'm puttin in a carputer (that was my site, man they should allow links, ya know ban people who abuse the link privilage). . . I attempted to put it in today! and well as my ****ty luck would have it, it started to work then it just stopped. And here's what happend:
I walked inside (left it playing music), came back out to my car and it was skipping ( i assume it froze for some reason). So i turned it off and turned it back on. It didn't make a beep, thought for a second, and then just sat there. Dumbfounded, i did it again. After the second time i became scared. The third time i wanted to break it. I took it inside, hoooked it up to my monitor and turned it on. And nothing, a black screen.

1. The hd, was warm, but its winter here (but f'n cold), I dont think it over heated, and it wasn't moving or dropped.
2. The heatsink was not even warm, still cold, the back of the slot processor was also cold, not warm at all. So i dont think it fried.
3. The motherboard didn't make any beeps or anythng.

Soooo, heres what i came up with...
1. its not the hd cuz the computer will still boot to say, no disk detected. so i know its not the hd
2. It might not be the processor, because it was just sitin there, not touched, the music was on low so the base didn't screw it up. And it was cold, not hot, and from my experience the cpu is usuallyl hot when it screws up.
3. the mother board has to be it! It doesn't beep, and i think that if the processor is screwed up it should at least beep to tell me that! And it just sits there, nothing on the screen, nothing. I think its the mobo...

What do you all think:
1. 366 p2
2. intel (something or other pos mobo that came with some pos gateway i had)
3. 10 gig maxtor hd 5400, perfect condition, no noises; nothing
4. 250 w power supply.
also this was not running from the car battery yet, it was run from an extension cord. And the sound was from an aux adapter.

I want to know what you guys think!!!

if your processor wasn't even warm then it is obviosly not getting any juice, or your processor could have become poorly seated, a poorly seated processor has caused my heart to skip many a beat

you don't have an led on the mobo do you?
did you try putting a finger on your ram, to see if it is hot at all?

yea i have led's but, ok heres what it does....... i push the on button and the power led comes on, then the hd led blinks for like a split second if that... then it just sits there. black screen and all... no beeps no nothing.

And from my experience the beeps are what tell you whats wrong. hmm, it might be my processor! but wouldn't it beep, ahh i duno!

Oh, no led's directly on the mobo no.

You might do better in General Hardware Forum & yes, links to your own site are not allowed here unless you are a senior member.
