I was really disappointed in the graphics of this game until I got to the first series of "cup" races. I was so frustrated with the way the car handled that I switched to first person... and won first place without batting an eyelash.

Is it just me... or does Forza 2 play COMPLETELY differently when you switch from 1st to third person? I can't imagine that my reflexes suddenly became 6,000 times sharper with the press of a button... not at 2am on a work night. Just an observation.

Overall, it's a hell of a lot more polished than the original Forza. The music doesn't suck at all and the menus are a lot sleeker and better designed. It pales in comparison to something like DiRT in terms of graphics (which is odd considering both how long they had to develop the game and the fact that it was made by Microsoft) but I played that on my PC with ridiculously high settings.

And it really is different in first person. As in "Wow! What a difference!" kind of different. Maybe all of my natural driving instincts kick in in first person. Who knows.

But I am enjoying it thus far. Biggest drawback:

VIBRATION. I mean come on... What? Were they trying to save the controller's battery life or something? I wonder if the "physics experts" who designed this game have ever sat in a car that had the motor running and held a steering wheel before.

Yeah I am better when in first person view compared to 3rd person. But this is the case for me with all racing games really. I think it is a depth perception thing... I dunno.

I like 3rd person view better (imagine that eh?), you may want to try the force feedback wheel, John says it's the balls. I myself don't really care too much about the rumble factor although I know a lot of 360 games use it conservatively. I recall only one game where the rumble went nuts and I forget which one that is. The best use of rumble I've ever seen is in EA's College Football 2K5 on the Xbox1, when the crowd went nuts the controller practically jumped out of your hands from all the rumbling and the screen shook.

My Fav car in the game is still the Ferrari F50.

If you're whining about the graphics, wait until you see Gran Turismo 5, I was taken aback by it while playing the demo. Impressive.

The rumble was a little on the weak side, but it is the first game where I could tell when the tires were on the verge of slipping. I liked that part very much.

I tend to over compensate with 3rd person view. When I start to see the back end getting lose I let off, and then bad things happen.

In first person its a lot harder to tell what the back end is "looking like its doing". I just point the nose and keep it pinned. I also find it easier to aim the car down the track, I wish that there was more to see in the first person. I want the real dash and the windshield, not just a piece of the hood.

Well they have that view in Gran Turismo. :) (Fudge probably didn't play 3 long enough to notice.)

Yeah I'm the exact same way. I overcompensate in 3rd person and it turns into a tradgedy, but that doesn't happen in first person. I would certainly PREFER 3rd person... I just happen to be better in first person.

(As a side note, did you know that YOU were the reason I came to this site? Or maybe it was somebody with a Scythe Ninja...)

I always use the third person because I love looking at my cars. I've actually crashed into the wall a few times because I got distracted looking at my awesome muscle cars. :o

(*flipping Rainman the bird*) I played the whole game through and the "in car" view was not really an in car view, you could just see the speedo and tach. GT5 will have a REAL dashboard view.

At the very least you also got a rear-view mirror (why the hell would the call Forza 2 a racing simulator and not give you a rear view mirror?)

I can't really understand what the designers of Forza 2 were thinking on a couple of issues. From some of the views, to the vibration, even the replays seem a little odd.

Judging my the dev interview somebody posted on my Forza 1 thread it seems like they became all OBSESSED with the physics and lost sight of everything else.

Still fun though... I just don't think they went far enough. (And I agree: GT5 will go ABOVE AND BEYOND.)

Polyphony Digital are also getting a little help from the UK TV car magazine Top Gear and their track is being featured in the game too

I tell you if they really get some help from Jermey Clarkson on car handling, GT5 is going to be THE driving game. The guy has litterally driven every car in existance.

I read a week or so ago that unlike the other game with accurate representation of in car dashboards (PGR4) that the gauges in GT5 will actually work (like back in Test Drive on the C64).

btw.... forgot to mention the 2008 Mustang GT500KR is the car used as KITT in the new Knight Rider.

Da** Fudge, that SS makes me want a PS3. GT5 with me G25 would be sweet. That is the one thing I miss in Forza2. While the M$ wheel does do the job it is no where nere the setup of the Logitech. I am going to have to meet some of you guys on Live sometime. Probab;y get my a** handed to me but such is life.
