Unless I can figure out folding from a Live CD that is. It looks like my hard drive may be getting ready to die on me, and I don't have a replacement right now. I am looking for a replacement right now, but might not be able to afford one until my fiancé goes back to work. Since we had the baby, and work has been slowing down due to construction slow downs, finances have been pretty rough on my end. I need something around 320GB so if anyone knows of one for a fairly decent price, let me know. I also have a post here (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=549182) if anyone knows of anything that might be able to help me out.

Well it's not just for folding. I actually do quite a bit with this particular rig. A little bit of gaming, some video editing, little bit of photo editing, it's pretty much my main use rig, and I have around 90 GB just taken up on it in video and music files, with more to come. Probably doesn't help too much that I am running Vista Ultimate on it. The drive seems to pass Seatools diagnostics, but for some reason Vista doesn't like it. I found a new drive for around 74.99 free shipping on the Egg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136098), but I am pretty preferential to Seagate drives. I may just take the drive out and run off something smaller until I can afford a new replacement, may even go with a Raid 0. I might end up having to wait on my tax return for that, as soon as I quit being so lazy and get them filed.
I might even be able to deliver.

If you gotta buy a 320gb from the Egg get this 320gb WD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136074). It's got 16mb cache... I also own three of them with a fourth sitting in bubble wrap. Can you say RAID-5 array? :D

Wow H, the one I was looking at was only an 8 MB. Looks like I have one lined up already. I think when I get the funds together, I may be working my way into another WD, I haven't run one in years. I have heard that their quality has gotten a lot better over the years.

Ahh, excellent... cuda has you fixed up. Man, I love this Team. :)
Yeah, I had some issues with a couple 60-80gb WD IDEs several years ago... I think I just got a hold of some drives from batches that weren't QA'd properly. To be fair to that era of drives from WD... I've got a 20gb and 60gb IDE that are both 5+ years old and still crankin'.
Other than those couple times I really haven't had any issues with their drives. I must have a dozen or so WD drives crankin' away in my compy room here. :)

In all true fairness to WD, I did have some problems with them in the past, some only lasting a few months before they crashed. But I did buy one around 4 years ago, just because of the price, I couldn't find one at a lower price at the time. It ran for me without a hiccup for a little over 3 years until I donated it to a friend in need, and to this day it is still running as smooth as could be. The Seagate I have now looks to be a drive that was made for an OEM builder like Dell or something, and came with no warranty. I should have read the page I bought it from before the purchase. I think the site said something about 3 months warranty through them, but that was around 6 months ago. I guess any drive could have premature problems, but this is the first time I have ever had a problem with a Seagate. I have been using Seagate drives almost exclusively for I think around 7 or 8 years now.
It is because of people like cuda that keep me sticking around T32. Everyone around here seems more than helpful in every possible way. If I ever have the chance to help someone out in the same way, you can bet I will be willing to go out of my way.
