Title says it all, I plug the mic into the external amp on the Audigy 4 Pro and I can hear myself talking/breathing through my headphone earpieces but nothing records or transmits to Windows.

I tried re-installing the driver and after the computer restarted the mic would record in Windows Sound Recorder but then I started up CS:S and it wouldn't work. I then exited CS:S and I could not get the mic to record in Sound Recorder again. Tried several mics with no luck.

Any help would be great, I've never used mics before on an Audigy series soundcard so I'm not sure if everything is setup correctly.

That's because the default recording device is set to Mic 1, which is on the rear of the card. You need to switch the default recording device in windows and/or whatever program your using to Mic 2, which is the one on the breakout box.

what kindda mic? and do check the sound setup on window and look under "recording" to see what's checked.

I have the same card, if the setting is right, it should work :)
