While testing my new system i encountered a problem while running the sisoft memory benchmark. While i run it either locks up or reboots the system. NO overclocking on the processor side and im running at cas 2. Everything is turbo and optimized settings on the BIOS.

Any help would be appreciated.

Heres a breakdown of the system.

Athlon XP +1600 (1.427) ghz
Stick of Crucial 256 MB DDR 2100 cas 2.5
Soyo dragon PLus w/ onboard RAID and Nic.
Santa cruz soundcard.
Seagate barracuda IV 60 gigs.

Windows Xp Pro.
SAndra Professional ver 1.11.8.53

Should i disregard the reboots that occur only on the test or try to find the root of the problem?

Welcome to the Forums!
Looks like a pretty nice rig you got there too!

For the lockup problems: it sounds like your ram settings might be just a bit too aggressive.

Does it lock up at any other time?
What temps do you have- case/mobo/cpu?

Cpu temp is 24.
mobo temp is 33.

While it hasnt crashed on me during any time besides the memory benchmark
and a Initial shared IRQ problem with the soundcard. Only testing i've done
is sisoft 3 loops of 3dmark2001 and about 4 hours of Half life. Only had
this system for two days now. The Chipset is Via KT266a, unaware if it
matters.

THnx, its a pretty good system except for the videocard which is a uh...
Gefore 256 32MB.
hehe

Any help will be appreciated,

Try setting the ram to cas 3, and if the Turbo setting has an AUTO, go with that. It should slow the memory down just enough to be stable.

There are some Guides on the front page at
OC.Com (http://www.overclockers.com) and I think there is some stuff about memory timing. My memory kinda sucks, so I can't remember the details right now!
