View Full Version : Blank screen issue when trying to game

I just finished helping a friend build her first PC (she did all the work, I just supervised), but now we are having serious video issues that I can not figure out.

Here are the system specs to get started:

XFX MG-630i-7109
E6600 @ 2.4
EVGA 8800GTS 320
4GB OCZ
Raptor 150
PCP&C Silencer 610

The problem that we are running into is that anytime we try to start a game we get a blank screen with an hourglass mouse icon that is sometime free and sometimes frozen. This screen lasts for as long as I have cared to sit and watch it so we always end up doing a hard restart. I have tried a few different versions of the GTS drivers, and even tried an 8800GT in it with the same outcome.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am about ready to put a bullet in this thing.

Thanks

Did you install the chipset drivers?

My guess is it has to be software, or MoBo related.

Problem solved, the MOBo didn't like the RAM. I swapped out to a pair of 1GB (2 x 1GB) Crucial Ballistix and that fixed everything.

Actually the Ballistix was the savior. The OCZ was the problem.
