Hello all.

I've read alot about the locked multipliers of the XP cpus, but never that the voltage was locked. Is this the case?

I have paired an AMD XP1900+ with an IWILL XP333-R motherboard, and if I try to set the VCORE to *ANYTHING* besides "AUTO" in the bios, the system just keeps restarting over and over and never posts.

The XP333-R MB has the 3-stage power-up, so it just keeps cycling through the power-up and never posts.. I then have to clear the CMOS with the jumper and leave the VCORE setting to auto.

So is the VCORE also locked with the multiplier or do I have some defective crap?

:D

You must have a rev 1.0 or 2.0 board.
It's a bios problem, you can try a different version bios.
If you have a rev 2.1 board then you probably have a bad board.
Its not the cpu.
Here is a good source for info.

I just read the forum you posted. I had went to IWILL's website the night I installed this thing... (I was also quite tired that evening...) I saw that there was a newer bios available (the board came with bios 11/29/2001.)

The new bios was 12/21/2001 but printed afterwards was the message that I didn't notice until today... "(For ver1.0/2.0 only)"

This could be my problem.. Probably is...

 They don't have it available on the website anywhere...

Well.. I was right about IWILL not having the 11/29/01 BIOS for v2.1 revision IWILL XP333-R boards available on the net.

I did an editing job to their support webpage and changed the links to point to the 11/29/01 bios file. I was surprised when it worked.

So... If anyone was as stupid as I was to hastily replace their bios on the v2.1 board -- I have the 11/29/2001 bios that came with the board (both RAID and non-RAID) available on my FTP server...

IWILL XP333-R (RAID) v2.1 Original BIOS:
http://63.229.137.20/iwill/xpr1129.exe

IWILL XP333 (NO RAID) v2.1 Original BIOS:
http://63.229.137.20/iwill/xp1129.exe

Does anyone feel like doing me a HUGE favor? If you have the v2.1 IWILL XP333-R board, can you use the flash utility to grab your 11/29/2001 bios and save it to a file? :D

They don't have it available on the website anywhere...

I can't help you with the new BIOS but if you plan to overclock I sure would like to know how far she'll go with that board.

I'll let you know... Now that I got the old BIOS back (see above) I will be working on it in a few hours. The best I could do without modifying the voltage of the XP 1900+ was 1.75GHz (I know, that's wussy..) :D

I'll report back in a bit. I'm sure I'll hit near 1.8GHz, not much more. I'm still AIR cooling and the CPU is not unlocked...
