BF2 1.1.2 won't patch!

BF2 is one of my favorite games, I stepped down from vista to xp just so I can get better game play for it. The game installs nicely with SF too, but when it comes to patching, the patcher executes but stops at 80-86% and then sais "finished!". At first I thought the last bits were uuber fast, but when opening BF2 it is still 1.1.2!

I've re-installed BF2 about 6 times now.. Google my problem dozens of times, and tried countless patches.:confused:

The latest patch is version 1.41 I believe, try downloading the full 1.41 patch and running that on a clean BF2 install.

I've tried that but about halfway through it says patching failed, then it goes back to installshield wizard and says finished. From then I can't run bf2 unless I re-install it.

I'll try downloading 1.41, but on other patches with a clean install it still doesn't manage to install patch.

sometimes it could be a hw issue causing that also...say ram or hd issues.
