In it's favor, it costs less than a pack of smokes..And the damage that follows it (to you and your components...plus everything else) makes it more expensive than my computer and car put together.

but if I wrap my computer in a plastic bag that should keep that magic smoke in when this thing kills it right?

Of course. Just make sure you use saran wrap on all your components first.

And put it in water to cool it.

You forgot to mention, this cooling method only works if your free hand is in the water at the time to ensure the water is at sub-ambient temp.

Disclaimer - Do not actually try this!

This one is taken from the newegg reviews of the Raidmax Volcano someone asked about recently here..

Pros: Looks cool, high voltage, shielded pluggable cables.

Cons: Mine died after about 9 months... actually it exploded - seriously. Sparks and chunks of burning material flew through my case from the power supply... and it was scary. Also, during its working months, the power to one of my DVD drives would often cut off after a few hours and I'd have to restart to regain power. Also, even with a full window you don't really see the cool fans and designs, it honestly looks cooler sitting on your shelf.

Other Thoughts: Unless you are powering a very low end system with few extras don't buy it. Mine was a slow Athlon 2100+ with a DVD burner, a single hard drive, and only two fans and it blew this PS up after less than a year. I'm using a stock back-up 250 watt PS right now and it's holding up just as well, sadly.

High voltage? Anyway.. Mind you it's supposed to be a 630w PSU :p Need to get video of some of these time bombs when they give up the ghost..

Wow, correct me if I am wrong, but Powmax is named after the sound it makes when your expensive hardware is taken out with it. I still think that is way overpriced for something that low quality. I don't even think I would trust it as a paperweight.

Powmax is crap. You can run a couple of LEDS on it. It is probably a 100W unit at best.

For that price, I'm sure there are parts you can scrounge from it :).

Man, you buying those Cartier pearl filtered cigs? That's really expensive.

So...using this psu to power an SLi rig w/ a x9650 would be out of the question right? LOL

I smoke Newports, and they run around $5.35 a pack, if I buy them on the reservation. Every where else I think they run around $6.50.

And to think I was going to buy this to run dual Q6600's with quad 8800GT's and a 2 TB Raptor array. I guess I'll just have to go with dual HX620's. I guess I won't be saving $335. LMAO

We should hold some kind of competition with these power supplies. See which unit can handle the most load for how long before bursting into flames

Who cares? For 5 bucks, buy a PSU for the mobo, 1 for the CPU, 1 for each video card, another to run your drives, and probably a couple more to run the fans!

I had a PowMax ONCE. Worst power supply I ever had. From the moment I put it in, the Asus motherboard alarm went off 24/7. It blew up not long after. It was also WAY more watts than I needed... supposedly... as said above, you're lucky to power a few LED's with a powmax. It weighed about a tenth of an ounce.

I suppose on the upside, if you want a new rig, and your current rig is insured against fire... j/k.

Actually the vista beta copy I received in 2005 was to my liking. More so than the current version. The beta has less **** than the final release.
