What drivers are you now using, I know the Omega's are good as well as the new leaked beta thats out for the 8500 but it also works for the 7500 as I found out and it increased my performance

ATI is famous for bull****ting or exagerating. You will be lucky if you see a new set in the month of January. This is something people like Funnyperson,Cisco Kid and a few others have been argueing with me about over the last few months. And of course I am right. ATI isnt gonna hold true to their words on driver releases every 3 weeks. The Beta 8500 will be another card in their lineup which will NEVER reach its potential concerning performance reliability/stability. Call up ATI and thank them for yet another "Rage" stunt.

I won't argue :D

ATI sucks for driver updates, but quite frankly, I don't need no stinking update, my card runs fine right now

My friend's 8500 smokes with the current drivers from their site... Im wondering what the need is for new drivers when the current ones seem to be working really well...

I gotta admit I am a little disappointed that they aren't releasing drivers like they said but it's been about 6 weeks since the last one, right?

But my card is smoking in all the games and apps that I use so I'm not too concerned. I'd be ****ed though if I had problems with the card.

Ritteri&Bubbles, from what I have read and been hearing on the bulletin board here the latest drivers for the 8500 do allow the card to make use of all its features. Did you give the leaked betas a go?? I know they are betas but from what some are saying they work well.

Funny thing is it is the 8500 that seems to be plagues with the driver issues but at thios time it is not really an issue many say, however my 7500 has not had any driver issues and the card plays all games very well.

Yes it would be nice to see ATI come out with another driver release and I think you will see it happen come New Year

Pinky,

I'd like to use Win Xp again as I ran into problems with the ATI 8500 drivers and XP

Primarily opengl issues and some smaller problems.

I gave ATI one last chance with my purchase of this 8500 and my next upgrade is a Nvidia based card no ifs, ands or buts about it.

With that said the 8500 is a great card made by a pathetic company that is clueless when it comes to producing QUALITY drivers in a timely fashion.

With the newest "Beta" drivers for the "Beta 8500" there are unfortunatly MANY problems with MANY configurations still. Remember, I own AND sell them. Lots of tech calls to get em to run properly let me tell you. Their latest driver set does let new features run, but did you happen to notice the HUGE performance hit? Either way, they still dont run DVI monitors right, Hydravision is a joke(which BTW Nvidia will show ati how its done right with the GF4 series coming up in less than 8 weeks.

As I also have stated by the time ATI does get the product working halfway decently Nvidia will already have a new card out that blows it out of the water.

As a side note the GF4 could have been released at the same time the 8500 was,and run just as well(buggy). This shows how Ati is still realistically 1 full generation behind in chipset design. The GF4 chipset was actually completed Sept of 01'.

How much will the G4's be when there out?

I'm thinking of cancelling my 8500 order as it hasn't arrived after 2months even though they took the $ out of my account.

They don't even answer emails, ebuyer suck:(

Thats the reason i bought a Ti200 instead of the 8500. i didnt want to spend 449$ Canadian for a card that works but is buggy as hell. Anyone up for a screenshot of Smoothvision?

A lot! I'd have to double chk but i think they are gonna be out early next year, i dont think they got a price tag yet. I say cancel your order, get your money back and save up for the GeForce 4.

THe problem is they have taken the $! Also they seem to have just recieved it and its awaiting dispatch (that was 2weeks ago!) so if I cancel it knowing my luck it would just be delevered!

I don want my pc going though.

Do you think there will be g4's for £250 when there out??? After all the cheapest g4 is the same speed as the ti500 I would really like the 1000 version!!!!

I wonder if you can buy an add-on card thats AGP 8x......???

That AGP 8x add-on card is an interesting idea! i wonder... I cant really guess on the card's price, the original GeForce 3 were 599$ Canadian when they first came out! So imagine what the GeForce 4's will be.
