How do I stop the speakers from emitting the beeping/static sound whenever my cell phone is near the speakers? I remember that little magnets used to be given out with old speakers/crt monitors to stop that, but I'm not sure if they worked/are available now.

I too would like to know. In class, being the nerd I am, I sit near the front, and whenever there is any use of speakers you can here the dooo dooo dooo coming from my cell phone.
I just hope that 20 years from now we finally find out that it can cause harmful effects.

Take the battery out of the phone or move it farther from the speakers. You could build one of these to keep the phone in if you really want, use a couple AAA batteries or something: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage You might also have luck just throwing the phone into an antistatic bag..

Switch Carriers :), I don't have this issue with Verizon. I have only seen this issue with GSM phones such as Cingular/AT&T, T-mobile, US Celular ect.
