Hey I got my Alpha 8045 and I lost most of the extra washers so I had to go buy some new ones from the store. The new washers are about twice the size of the regular ones. I put one on the top by the screw. I use to have just the regular washers on, when I put this new kind on I removed the old flat washer that came with it becaue the new ones were twice the size, and I have noticed my idle tem drop 3'c, and my load tem drop 3'c! now I at idle I am at 35'c! and 38.50'c at load! and my 8045 is unlapped!
This is at 1.400ghz@1.79v (or so)

That's great! I'm not getting anywhere near that with my 8045 and I lapped it. I was wondering if doubling the washers would help. Thanks, now I'm going to give it a try.

Sounds like more pressure was applied with the thicker washer.
:burn: :burn:
Does seem more pressure was applied when the new ones were applied.
Glad your temperatures went down it'll maybe go down 1 more degree since the ASII takes 48 hours to settle in.
Cheers

Cool I hope so. But I am very happy, I just need to lap the heatsink tho, I am scared, I need to get some glass first.

got mine with a 53cfm fan for 35shipped but you need to wait until svcompucycle has another sale.
Today I added 4 washers to my 8045 (total of 12), increased air flow 30 CFM and overclocked from 1700+ to 1900+ and dropped temps under load from 46/30 to 41/29. Thanks for your post Slick306.

So you have 4 washers by the screw head? Where are all the washers? I think 12 might be cutting it close, but if it works that's great :)
