I just installed a 1Ghz Celeron in my BX6 r2 and SiSoft Sandra is reporting 76C! I tried taking the heatsink compound that came on the retail CPU off and replacing it with Artic Silver and it made no differance. Could it be that Sandra is reporting the information incorrectly or could it be that the Sloket III I'm using is passing the data incorrectly or something? I'm at a loss of why it's reporting so high. Also when I check the CPU temp in the BIOS it show N/A as though it can not read it. Someone please help. BTW, I havn't had the computer crash or anything and the actual temp that Sandra is reporting is from 74C-76C and it's ususally at 76C reguardless of how long I've left the computer on.
Thanks

Well, if your BIOS can't report it then it must be a problem with the motherboard or sensor itself. Although I can't think of what could be wrong with it. Maybe if you keep this bumped for a few days some genious will figure it out. Good luck.

I'm not familliar with that board but if those temps are correct the cpu won't last.... with temps like that it should be hot to the touch.
Also being that you are using a slotket your problem is most likely in the BIOS, what is your FSB settings?
Check to see if you have a jumper on your motherboard to select 66/100 CPU.

Could someone with a BX6r2 till me if their CPU temp reading is out of wack when used with a slotket?
TIA
Crab is your heatsink making proper contact? Take the slotket out of the motherboard and with the heatsink on put the slotket facing down as if the heatsink was facing up and shine it in a clear white light and see if you can see light if you can see light that means your heatsink isn't properly contact with the cpu.
Good Luck!
