Hey all. Question. Should I go from a duron 850 to a t-bird 900 or, go from an old tnt2 m64 vid card to a geforce mx. I'm strapped for $$$ so I can only do one. Thanx in advance!

I'd go for the vid card... that's probably your bottleneck...;)

Vid card. You will hardly notice a dif in a 100mhz cpu increase.

wow, thanx for the unanimous response! So I will probably get a video card and upgrade later to an athlon xp or something. It gives me confidence that all of you agree. Thanks again.

Just please do yourself a favor and don't buy a MX200..get the MX400 for only a few dollars more for a much better performing card. I have a MX200 and a MX400 and I can't stress enough how much difference there is between them. Check my signature equip is quite similiar and my system gets nearly 1000 points more in 3dmark2k and 2k1. Mine is running at 868 mhz to the others 933mhz. I'm sure there is some other factors making my increase a littttle unigue, but even before I upgraded to the mx400 my old voodoo3 3000 agp card was doing almost as well in 3dmark2k and 2k1. If you can afford to stretch your budget a little more go for a Geforce2 Ti card their much better than the MX's and only about $30-40 more.

Just remember to not settle for a card just because it's $10 cheaper than a slightly more powerful card. Go for what you think will make you happiest. In the end that's all that counts. Most thought I should've bought the GF2 Ti card, but I felt for me it wasn't worth the extra cash as I would MUCH rather have bought the GF3 Ti 200($150-180). So I bought the mx400 and when I can later this winter I WILL buy that GF3Ti 200... plus by then it should be closer to $100-130.
