Soccer Games...

Does anybody here play any soccer games? I just picked up FIFA 08, for the PS3 and would like to play some matches with y'all.

Is anybody picking up PES/Winning Eleven next week? I just played some guy from England on FIFA, and he said that PES is way faster but lacks online play.

Any takers......

I'm not very good but after I've played Mass Effect through again as a Paragon then I'll give it a rent and play you. Maybe you can teach me some stuff so that I can get more into it. I'd like to try to get into footy.....

It's pretty much pass/lob and shoot. The toughest part for me is the dribble system, which ls crazy this year. I've found the learning curve to be a bit steep, but still easy enough for a casual match. I've also got a bluetooth headset for voice chat during the match.

I think that FIFA 08, is only 720p. Why doesn't the PS3 allow it on your TV?

No HDMI, no 720P. only 480P and 1080i, PS3 will not scale to 1080i via Component, just HDMI.

I have been playing PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) back from ver 5.
Its the best soccer game out there, well at least its realistic :)
For PS3 its even better, you can watch some gameplay movies on YouYube and see what the game looks like.
The best part IMO is the Master League feature where players develop.
Try it if you get the chance.

I'm going to rent FIFA on the PS3 tonight. I haven't played anybody on the PS3 yet, I'm going to have to find and charge my bluetooth headset...... If you want to play, my handle is "Eire Man" or "EireMan". I'm not sure which way I set it up on the PSN.

I really don't get why American football is called "football", if anything it would be better named "handball". I mean they barely use their feet to play the game :confused:
Calling real football soccer just annoys the hell out of me, it is very logically named football, they play with a ball and they use their feet mainly to play it.

Also isn't the latest PES a bug/slowdown fest on PS3?

Bleh... Even in Mexico they call it "Futbol Soccer." The US rules, everyone else drools!

*Not sure on PES, I've only played one match years ago @ a friends on PS2. I've heard that PES 08 just blows for online, so I won't be picking it up.

They didn't have it in..... :cry: I'll check back tomorrow. I got F1 racing instead. Looks like crap due to my TVs lack of 720p. Damn, PS3 still won't do 1080i on 720p native games like the 360 does.

I hope, because I downloaded the FIFA demo and it is 720p native which means 480p for me and looks like a PS2 game. At least now they're letting 1080p native games display at 1080i over component but those games are not that plentiful.
