View Full Version : Load shedding (power outages)
In South Africa there is a major electricity shortage at the moment (long story, but basically there were coal shortages, nuclear reactor upgrades, politics and lots of poop all mashed up at the same time).
This has led to load shedding (planned power cuts) that occur once a week or so, for two to three hours at a time. It is pretty random, but I have been lucky so far, my area has not been hit in weeks :D
What is the effect on folders if the machine suddenly loses all power?
Obviously I switch the computer on again when the power returns - or I would just be waiting a long time for the WU to finish....
Sometimes I lose a WU, sometimes not when I trip a breaker. I dunno why that is.,,

That will depend on what client your running and how it's set up. I usually set mine up to back up work every 15 to 30 min. In which case i'd lose 15-30 min worth of folding. If all goes well when you power back up wu will pick up where it last backed up, but sometimes wu will be toast. You'll receive error message and new wu will be downloaded.

How do you do that? Is it in -config?

No problem, anytime. ;)
btw- how do you like that EP35-DS3P? I'm considering buying one for my next Quad build.
How high do you have the OC... in particular the FSB?

I was the one that recommended the board to him as its the one I got as a replacement to my ICFX-3200 T2R/G. I have yet to OC it, but from what I have heard from around here and reviews it OC's pretty well. I will have to do some testing tonight with my E2140 and see what I can get it to do.
