View Full Version : My Folding Computers
You wanted a list and here it is.
Just started last week getting back into this. I haven't actively folded since 2003, and thought with all this processing power I needed to do something.
Active processors, most 24x7 -
Q6600 @ stock speeds - 1700 PPD avg. - work computer
Opteron 144 @ stock speeds - low PPD - work computer
Opteron 165 @ 2.6ghz
Q6600 @ 3.18 ghz - 2492 PPD avg
Xeon E5310 (quad) @ 1.6ghz
E4500@2.2ghz - 1200 PPD
E2140@1.6ghz - 1027 PPD
E2140@1.6ghz - 1050 PPD
PS3 - thought I would try it out folding for a while
Might get a few more up this week, but this is a start.

:welcome: to Team 32 tech9! New (or returning) guy stocks the fridge.
You will be making some healthy SMP ppd with that fleet!!! :attn:

Damn nice list!
Overclock those beauties!
A lot of them are client workstations, so I don't really want to have them not so stable :P
Was having some stability issues with my box, so i went to stock speeds. Got a new mb coming should solve the issues, 3ghz+ here I come. :D

Welcome back to the Fold tech9, nice rigs there too
FOLD ON!!
I'm a little worried about my opteron 144 only pushing out 120 PPD. Seems really really low.

Don't worry that's about right for those WUs... it would do far better if some bonus WUs were prevalent on standard clients right now but I haven't seen any in a month or better.
Do all the dual core and quad rigs fold with the SMP client?
All of the duals/quads are running the SMP, i have the regular client run at work here so I have something to watch :P

:welcome: Home !

So I checked the PS3 after like a week, and it says 20 units completed. I have like 33 total units last I checked.
Are some of my folding computer not returning units correctly? How can you tell?
Is there a log you can check out? I would think I was doing at least 1 WU a day on each comptuer.

You have more personally owned computers folding for you than I have borged! You have an awesome setup with that mix of Q6600s, Opterons, and Core 2s. I can't wait to build another rig so I can get one step closer to a setup like yours.
Well some are borged... almost.. I asked most of them :P
When you tell them science and cancer they agree.

The PS3 will out fold most or all of the cpu's available, today. It's Cell Processor is just awesome (though a witch to program).
In your FAH folder, there is indeed a FAHlog.txt file, which shows every step, of every WU, that you've folded. Previous editions of that file may also be present, with obvious names.
One WU per day may not be possible with the standard client. My E6700's can't do that, at stock speeds. When they're folding with the SMP client, and on Linux, or on Windows and using the Affinity Changer, then it can fold one WU per day (Linux = slightly more than that).
I installed the affinity changer service.... now i'm getting weird stuff like this:

Not sure what is wrong.
Is this on the Q6600 @ 3.5GHz?
3.5 GHz?
I'll give you 3.5 guesses! :D
You're right on the edge of instability at that speed. AC pushed you over it, I strongly suspect.
I don't know how, but I think that might be it :P
I lowered the OC even a little more, hope that fixes it.
Prime made a fool outta me :P

Yeah, OC's are very fragile while folding. if I bump my FSB up even by 1, my rig loses stability. In it's current state, however, it's 100% stable for over three months :)
Nice arsenal you have there by the way ;)
Welcome home!

I'm starting to think the SmpAffinityChanger is causing me more headache than pleasure. I'm going to remove it and see if my rig stables out... b/c the more I think about it, my troubles started when I started using SmpAffinityChanger.
My troubles are documented elsewhere. :)

Uh oh, you just popped up on my threat list!
*runs and hides even further from society for a further 5.9 months (soon to shrink I'm sure!) until you zoom by!*
Keep up the great work!
