No sound online only?

Just built a PC for a family member and the sound doesn't work when online only. I can play my MP3's just fine but when I go online to watch videos or play yahoo games there is no sound. What gives?

Which OS, MB, sound card (make and model) or on-board sound including driver version installed, browser used (including version), etc.?

The MOBO is an ASUS M2N AMD board. It is just using the integrated audio It uses the NVIDIA Nforce 430 chipset. It's running XP Pro. The only time sound works is when I either play a movie in the DVD drive or listen to an MP3. None of the windows sounds work at all ( Startup music beeps etc.) and no sound works when I do anything online like watch a youtube clip or listen to music on yahoo.
