I'm looking for a good but inexpensive and overclockable motherboard cpu combo.I run seti on several computers at home and am looking for a reasonable upgrade for one of my slower boxes.I have three singles that are doing around 3 seti wu's a day,i would need something considerably faster than any of those to consider the upgrade.and since all the machine does is seti I wouldn't want to spend a lot to do this.

any suggestions????

thanks DOG

Ok.. you got a choice..

Shuttle.. or Epox mobo

Shuttle is 66 bucks
Epox is around 79

then a Duron with 192k Cache 900 mhz for about... 38 bucks

check out www.newegg.com

you got it right there..

Here's how I'd do it. I've built a couple of systems with the Shuttle AK31, and I love it for a low price, stable mobo. And personally, I'd go with a 1.0-1.2 GHz TBird and overclock the snot out of it. You should be able to reach at least 1400, and probably more with an AXIA or better stepping. I've been hearing more and more people getting AYHJA steppings in a 1.0, 1.2 and so on. You might get lucky and get one, too. Order from someplace that does a lot of business, like Newegg, and you'll get a good stepping without having to pay extra for it.
