I have a t-bird 1.4 with an alpha pal 8045. Its susposed to have a delta 68cfm fan on it but they shipped the wrong one. So i just have a cheap fan on it for now. I used the artic silver compound like the dirrections said and at full load the cpu hits 51 sometimes 52. At idle its still up around 42. What is going on here? What should i do. Oh yeah and this is with out the side pannel on the case, and a house fan blowing over the heat sink doenst help either. how do you guys get such low temps?

What kind of motherboard do you have and I am assuming your using the onboard sensor to measure the temps right?

I would try reattaching the hsf , clean the chip and hsf of the old AS2 and then start all over making sure the hsf is lined up correctly and contacting the core fully.

Wait for the new fan before you give up. A tight heatsink like that needs a high cfm fan to perform up to par. If you are using a little 1/2 inch (1cm) thick fan on it, I'm surprised your temps are that low.
The temps you got aren't going to kill it, but I wouldn't overclock until the replacement is on it, and the temps are lower.
Can you build a temporary duct to the back case fan for now? Just cardboard would work. Make sure the case fan blows in the same direction as the hsf does.

*edit* by the way, a house fan wouldn't help much cause it's giving the same pressure around the hsf as it is through it. All it can do is bring cooler air to the current fan.

Yes i am using the on board temp sensor, from the asus a7v266e, i heard that the temps were off on some of there other boards, is it true for this one too. I check it out with the new fan too, and see what happens, should be here in a couple of days.

Hows the airflow in the case?

Think you will be surprised with your new fan when its on anyways..

The little fans won't be able to keep up with the top of the line heatsinks.

What fan are you getting?

Be sure to get some case fans.

In my experience, 1.4's run extremely hot. I have 3 of them, and your temps are similar to what I'm getting. I recently replaced one with an XP 1600+ and the temps dropped 10 degrees.

No need to swear about it though ;)

Ok I just finished insatlling my case fans and the case temp is the same as the room temp air. 3 120mm fans on in the side, on in the top, and one in the back. It works quite nicely, but abit on the loud side, oh well. Im getting a delta 68 cfm fan 80mm. Right now while in typing this the CPU is running at 45c and i just turned it on.

Fishy what you should do is remount the fans so theres an equal exhaust and intake.

Intake should be at the bottom and at the front of the case.

And exhaust should be near the back at the top.

Add a blowhole if you want too.

Adding case fans to the side is just additional if you finished the basics which is just what I mentioned.

So worry about the primary and the secondary are blowholes and fans to the side casing.

By the way your covers are off right? That'll drop more if they're off.

Nope right now the covers are on the side. I do have a blow hole and the fan that is on the side is an intake with some ducting aiming it at the PCI slots. The third fan is in the back just under the PS and its acting as an exhust. So 1 intake in the front at the bottom, a blowhole and a rear exhust. Case temps are good! CPU temps are BAD:(

lol my 1.3 t-bird reached 144 F once. It would hover around the mid 130's. I'm not sure what stopped this insane heat, the last thing I did was open the case and blow the dust out. Now it just stays around...lemme check...

errr 91 F right now, wtf that's a record low in 6 months, lol. It's usualy around 110. Well I just updated my BIOS a couple days ago, maybe that did something...

I heard that the newer bios was off even more in temp.

It shouldn't be. Newer bios include newer fixes and according to Comit it did him very good.

Does your room feel very hot? If it does probably means it is defintely real heat.
