This is sorta odd, since a week ago I asking why you need a sound card over on-board, but what sound cards do you guys use, and which one do you think is the best value? I sorta have my eye on the Sound Blaster Live! Gamer 5.1. That sad part is rarely will I get to use to its full potential because I live on a 24-hour quiet hall at school.

Well usually a seperate soundcard give muuch better performance than an onboard, since the seperate card has its own resources. As for soundcards... i would HIGHLY recommend the new audigy. :D

Don't get me wrong, I like the Audigy too, there is a very large price differences between the two. That is a limitation.

well depending on which package you want the difference is only about $20-30 :burn:

I think I may have be confused on the Gamer 5.1. I can KINDA find it on pricewatch, and it exists on the Sound Blaster website, but nowhere else on the web. What does exist is the X-Gamer 5.1, which is really nice but much more than I wish to/will pay.

well really the base soundcard in all the packages are the same, the only difference is the software included.... so u probably will save alot by just getting the sndcard itself. :D

Really? I did not know that. I will keep that in mind. So, are you saying I should go with the Sound Blaster Live! Value?

no no.. i mean if u really want the SB Live 5.1 you could get the same thing by getting the OEM one rather than dishin out like $30 more for the nice pretty box and all that useless software...
