Got me thinking, so I went to Gigabyte's website (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2629) and lo-and-behold they have version F8b out for the DS3L. They have a release date of 1/8/2008 on it, but I know they hadn't released it to the public on that date (I just flashed my BIOS to F8a about two weeks ago).

*Edit* Realized that it's due to the fact that I went to the US site. The Taiwan site has it and the US site still doesn't.

keeping all factors in mind BIOS 12 is still the best i guess. Even with BIOS 16 Beta we see FSB resets!

Gents, there are perfectly good beta BIOS versions available and they both properly identify Wolfdale temps.

Beta 9 for IP35 Pro (http://www.lvcoyote.com/M629B_16.B09.zip)
Beta 10 for IP35 Pro (http://www.lvcoyote.com/M629B_16.B10.zip)

Do you have to change the file name from the zip folder?

I just updated my board to BIOS 16, but I had to use the latest version of awdflash because for some reason the one that came in the zip is really old and didn't work.

You set each side of the decimal separately. The left side you can set 6-9, and the right side is ether 0 or 5.

Oldskool and I have E2180s and they have 10x. Maybe the .5 multi lilbuddy is seeing is an E8400 issue.

the e8500 is 9.5 or 8.5 what ever it is it has the .5 multiplyer

From reading around, appears the E8xxx series are the only ones that can use the .5 multi. Also even though the board says that E8400 can boot with a 9.5 multi, once you get into Windows you'll see its really only 9.0 multi.

How do you update to this bios? I tried copying the files to a CD-R but it wont boot from it... I'm new to Abit boards and I don't have a floppy. Would someone mind breaking it down for me :P

Well you ether have to make a bootable CD with the files on there or a bootable USB key. If you want to make a bootable flash drive, download and use this utility here, http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=MTX-UNITY-I23839

i knew i was missing something.

edit: i was able to update it using a usb flash card. worked like a charm. now if only they could fix that stupid double boot i would be an extremely happy man.
